The richest man in poker, Matt Savage, just added another six figure job to his resume.Matt Savage will be assuming a role of executive tour director. Will be interesting to see how warm a welcome he receives at the Bellagio and especially the Bike who are the main L.A. competition for Matts Commerce casino.This sees Matt working for Mike O’Malley who will be representing the WPT owners PartyGaming.Matt has embraced new ways of communication such as Twitter better than his fellow TD’s.

The Bike will be sending five players to the WSOP .If you would like to go the fun starts at 6pm Thursday and the buy in is $1k unless you qualified through the steps programme.

Woods in lead. Not Tiger but Englands Darren who is having the game of his life in the $10k LHE.Worth missing summer in his hometown of Cleethorpes.

Even with my vote and another bracelet on his wrist Men the Master missed the cut for the WSOP tournament of Champions.

Savage finds gold in La Lake

The Matt with the midas touch, Matt Savage, has struck gold in the first event of the Cal State tournament at the Commerce. Not only did he make his guarantee,of $500k, with a day to spare but he has celebrity Ricki Lake returning for the final day tomorrow. This has made the mainstream news.The poker media are used to Hollywood celebs with Jennifer Tilly, Shannon Elizabeth and James Woods all regular sightings in the tournament rooms.

Although this will be Ms Lakes first cash she did make Day2 of the WPT Invitational .

Next year this event will be competing with the Bellagio .For now it is a last chance for grinders to build a bankroll for the WSOP.

Party Poker, the new owners of the WPT, are running satellites to the LAPC main event to be played at the Commerce starting on Friday 26th February. The step tournaments are being run daily and the qualifying event,with a $750 buy in, is on Sundays at 5:15pm PST. At least two packages will be given away each week. The icing on the Party cake is that if the winner of the LAPC won his seat in one of these tournaments they will receive a $500000 bonus paid,tax free, into their account. Also all other Party qualifiers will receive a share of another $500000.

PartyPoker spokesman Mike Sexton said, in a press release, “If you are looking for big time poker action head to the LAPC.”

A successful HORSE but not at Santa Anita

It seems Santa Anita is experimenting. Instead of the micro brew festivals with bands performing after racing most weekends they had banked (pun intended) on a Snow Day with ski slope, skating rink and 200 tons of real snow. However, another big storm is forecast for the holiday weekend so the event has been postponed. Surely, a heavy storm and mist would add to the reality of being on the slopes?

Back to the Commerce. The Matt Savage HORSE tournament attracted a better than expected 212 entries. The event will probably not conclude until Midnight Thursday with the winner taking homeÂ $55k a seat in the WPT Event and some tip money! I am not even going to predict a winner at this stage as pretty much everyone played.

This left downstairs lacking in names although I did chat with Alec Torelli back from his trip to Aus + NZ.

Todays $1k final threw up some fresh names including Spanish Full Tilt pro Raul Paez. The final was once again a slow affair, probably a tribute to Matt Savages structure. Andy Phan was the only elimination in the first two levels today.

Matt Savage in purple suit shock

Matt Savage usually the best turned out TD in the business shocked everyone at the Commerce today by wearing a purple suit. When he finally noticed he called his dry cleaner to see if Kathy Liebert had put her clothes in at the same time. We shall keep you informed of any other lapses in the sartorial dept by Matt.

Matt Savage is in the house

No disrespect to young Sam who has kept the tournament running smoothly in Matt’s absence but with Matt in the house today even I have to look busy! Matt was checking that the finalists names were correct. Yesterday,in Matts abscence, a woman was allowed to cash as Alejandra Muropiaz when the previous evening she was Sexy Alexandra and at a previous FT Guadalupe Murodiaz. It makes the jobs of the database people so much harder.

More pros showed up for the six handed. Maria Ho, Thor Hansen, Sam Simon, Young Phan, Ray Davies , Hevad Khan,Â Al Barbieri, David Danesghar,Chris McCormack+ Mike SchneiderÂ joined Frankie O’Dell and Mimi Tran to add some star quality to the LAPC. 308 paid the $500 and tomorrows winner will take home $46k. Ralph Perry was downstairs.

Maria Ho actually has a tan but I have to have my photos of her approved before posting. So much for the freedom of self employment. The downside of all the pros being here is that it is not easy to secure the services of a food server downstairs.While waiting for my food order I noticed 22 names on a $10k buy in cash game.

Todays final is LHE. In a replica of last Fridays LHE final we reached three in the first level then the needle stuck. Still playing are Eva Neumann, Jeff Heiburg and Tommy Thung Huynh.

Eva is now parading the trophy downstairs. I believe a three way deal was struck.
