I should be resting in preparation for the marathon at the Commerce that begins with a $1m guarantee tournie and ends with a $25k High Roller event. The one I am looking forward to is the Media Event. The Invitational is an interesting evening and the WPT have just announced they have partnered with L.A. based charity Chrysalis .I must admit I thought it was the record company and I was looking forward to meeting members of Blondie, World Party or Robbie Williams.

Players who buy into the 10k ME before the 19th Feb will also be entered into the Invitational. That is some +Ev for Allen Kessler.

New events include a $1065 eight game mix, a $1585 chinese poker, $1065 badugi which should confuse dealers and media alike.

The strategy is to come early and if you win one stay late. Yarom Limor is in charge of the social dinners.

The LAPC runs from Wednesday Jan 20th to March 4th at the Commerce Casino on Telegraph Rd.

Not sure if Matt is going to Asia mid tournie for a working holiday….

The only certain way to attract the tournament players in L.A. is with guarantees. Matt Savage, a gambler by nature, has really pushed the envelope to his competitors. The opening event at the Commerce casino’s ,Telegraph Road, flagship LAPC tournament will be a $1 million guarantee. Yes for a buy in of $335 the winner should receive $300k or more. Of course, I expect with so much money on the line the final table will probably negotiate a deal.

The tournament begins on Wednesday 20th January with the final on Sunday 24th. Players start with 3000 chips and the levels are forty minutes. Players are allowed, make that encouraged, to play on all four Day ones.

On January 8th the Bicycle Club, Eastern/Florence in Bell, will begin a weekend $120 buy in with a $100k guarantee. You can enter at Noon and/or 7pm on Friday and Saturday and Noon on Sunday for the final at 7pm Sunday.

These tournaments offer good value for the tournament players. Results will appear here on Pokergossip.

Kevin is a floorperson at the tournament. He enjoys his work and is allowed, sometimes, to take the winners photo.
