The star trickle in but no HORSE ride for me

After saying how hopeless I was at predicting field sizes I actually won an under today. The prize? Some $1 rice pudding off the players menu. The forfeit? Riding a winning quaterhorse at Los Al. What scares me is the bend so close to the finish otherwise…The final number was around 80Â with some name players. Double or nothing on the PLO high, John?

The event will probably run until 4am this morning.

Allen Kessler’s first day in L.A. was rewarded with a spin on the wheel which netted “Chainsaw” $500.

Dong Xu, from nearby Rosemead, was trying for back to back wins and made the final table but was eliminated in fourth. Two names at the final Eric “Basebaldy” Baldwin and Joe Serock still better than Joe Sebok this summer.

Patrick Karschamroon has been playing competitively for four years with no limit holdâ€™em being his favorite game and preferring cash to tournament play.Â This is his biggest cash in a tournament so far and Patrick feels that the key to his final table strategy was to be very aggressive and to use his chip lead in order to put as much pressure on the other players as possible.

I will never take actual bets on the over/under,except with John at the Bellagio who is forever the optimist. I was thinking six tables for todays $1k NLHE at the Bike. After all Eric “Basebaldy” Baldwin is the only name in town and L.A. players don’t show for anything above $300 usually. Even Men and his entourage missed this one. With only 38 signed up 20 minutes prior to the tournament my prediction looked home and hosed. Somehow, the number ended at somewhere near 160. A few mutterings about the structures which today started at 100-200 for forty minutes then 200- 400 followed by 300-600 with a 100 ante. Yikes.

Todays final table saw a four way deal. The official result is below although Raul was eliminated before the tournament concluded making a winners photo difficult!

Tomorrow is $1k HORSE day. If the number tops 100 I will ride a quarterhorse to victory at Los Al in the near future!

What a strange day. I wake up to the , to be expected, news of Farrah’s death. Her last years must have been so painful. RIP. Soon after entering the Amazon I was talking with Raymond Davis and he received a text saying “Michael Jackson’s dead.” With a series of sold out shows in England this was a shock. Fremont St played a Michael Jackson song tonight and Harry O’s bbq which is, close to the poker action, located next to the Sand Dollar lounge on Polaris, is holding a white glove vigil tomorrow.

Yet the show goes on and what an interesting day with Fabio Coppello, who is a friend but no poker player, is deep into the final table of the $2500 omaha8 along with Scott Bohlman who is a poker player. Then over on “centre court” we have Kabbaj and Basebaldy playing out a long one for the big $$$. Looks like congrats to Kabbaj the third British winner of the WSOP09.

Julian Gardner, probably my only poker hero, is playing low today in the $1500 PLO. He was sat next to another friend Marina Barocco who is a late arrival to the series this year.

One of the few poker bloggers I read is Padraig Parkinson a really funny guy even when sober.
