I am more familiar with Steve Crockett at the Bellagio but a younger family member, Chris,started Day2 with 49k. The chip leader Phuong Tran had 295k. Chris won with Umbro track suited Tony Zoric second. Tony only started with 32k. The 65 players returned at 4pm and three hours later we had a final table.

Roy Tran cashed for the third time this series.

Although scheduling a LHE tournie is almost like a day off for the tournament staff John Claycomb,for one, is ever present,at any buy in.His record is good in these events and he finished fifth of eighty four at th Bike’s $100 LHE WOTG. Unless he plays the HORSE next week he is finished for the month!

Tea storms towards cup in San Jose

Vanna Tea reluctantly left Signal Hill last week to relocate to N.California. Well she reluctantly left behind the WOTG at the Bike. Not sure if she even unpacked before heading off to Bay101 where she is Chip leader after Day1a.That alone is worth $10k.

Pretty shocked that the results are in for the 7pm WOTG tournie.618 players entered the five hour turbo and Marc Ballin won $9k for his $60.

It may be too late to join the action in San Jose but the Wynn is in mid tournament and yesterdays $1500 NLHE attracted 119 entries.Looking at the result to see the quality of the field:

Bike has over a thousand entries in Guarantee

With almost 500 on Friday and just shy of 600 on Saturday the Bikes $200 buy in $150k guarantee was a success. Very few names around but Mickey Mills was the Day1 chip leader and Sam Simon Day1b. Simon is on a roll at the moment winning $4ok in a $1500 tournament last month at the casino where the buffet closes if the “Chef” misplaces his can opener.

As I write Sam Simon is playing at the FT.

Heads Up from Santa Anita + Caesars

What a great value a day at the races is. My $2 admission voucher today included a Santa Anita wall clock, a $10 slot voucher for San Manual, two free tickets for tomorrow and $2 admission for Derby Day. To top that off the racing today was unusually competitive. I didn’t have money to bet and didn’t pick a winner anyway! Sheekey looked and ran well on his first run for 30 months.

To add insult to injury not only did my three NBC Heads Up selections all lose in the first round, the players I said would not win all won. However, only Eli Elezra made it through round two.Nothing personal, I seem to accumulate a lot of Israeli poker friends.

Shocks at Santa Anita and Caesars

A first time runner ridden by his exercise girl won in nice style in the last at Santa Anita today. Dubai You xyz was given an excellent ride by young Charleen Hunt and paid $106.80 for the win and $30.60 for the place. I was one of many hoping to hear that the win triggered a Pick Six carryover for the third consecutive day.

However, the bet paid $552544 for $2. With a super tough card tomorrow a fourth carryover looked likely.

Switching to poker and Las Vegas Chris Moneymaker stunned the favourite backers when defeating Patrick Antonius.Phil Gordon also belied his odds to beat Tom Dwan,one of the event favourites. Jamie Gold also upset the odds defeating Roma fan Dario Minieri. All three of my picks lost in round 1.

Pick Six at Santa Anita and Bike

The pick six has not been won for the last two days at Santa Anita. With the carryover the pool should reach $1m on Friday.Good luck Kaptain Henry. Maybe Gevork will throw in some of his $450k WPT windfall.

I picked six to photograph in the $100 HORSE tournie at the Bike. A big field of 177 more than the 7pm NLHE attracted. I noticed on downloading the photos three players: Lizette Acoba, Marshall Ragir and Sirous B all have the five of diamonds in front of them.Special mention for Lulu from Santa Monica which,she says,is full of Brits.

This was the fourth event at the Winnin o the Green. The first three winners were:

The Commerce was very quiet today. Greg Mueller has returned from Canada, with a cold. It is only a brief stopover as he is due in Vegas to play in the Heads Up at Caesars. Mike Matusow and JR Bellande are downstairs. Upstairs a paid audience was filling the seats in the ballroom as they prepared for the filming of the Invitational.

Tiffany Michele was in the Trishelle VIP section while Ewee and Robert Mizrachi cheered for Neev Baram.

Despite Trishelles presence the reporters from CardPlayer,Pokerlistings and PokerRoad must have decided they had earned a day off after yesterdays marathon. Kara Scott was on set and they decided to have Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten on set

It only took 111 hands from start to finish with previously unknown qualifier LeRon Washington taking home $100k.

Don’t feel bad for the final six at the Party owned WPT.They have a day off tomorrow. No rest for the media crew though. Maybe too much rest for the Invitational finalists. Thor Hansen may have to win this to cover his losses of the last ten days. I ave no idea if the Las Vegas based Norwegian has won or lost but I have seen him in the racebook as well as the tables.
