Finally a chance to visit Santa Anita for a poker tourament. Far preferable than going to the Commerce on a Sunday. The reason for the tournament is to help the widow of  Dal Jones .She has two pre school age children so a full time job is difficult.Dal was only 38 when he passed away last month. Dal was a pupil at Temple City high before he earned a scholarship to play baseball at Azusa.

He was a Director of Marketing at Hollywood Park before accepting a position closer to home at Santa Anita. He formed a syndicate called Meritage Racing who still have a horse in training with Doug O’Neill called Indianski.

Sounds like a good life to me so tragic that it was so short.

The poker tournament is a $200 buy in and prizes include a Rolex watch and three nights, with a show, at the Wynn.
