PartyGaming acquires WPT

I don’t usually pass on my emails from Warren Lush at Party. Not that I have anything againsyt Party, I worked for them one WSOP, just it doesn’t always seem to fit in with my West Coast blog. This one could have an impact. PartyGaming has acquired the WPT for $12.3m plus another payment based on performance over the next three years. This should boost the entries into the WPT events as I would imagine Party will be running online satellites into their WPT tournaments.

The acquisition includes over 150 hours of tournament footage and the ClubWPT with its 16500 members. This seems of particular interest to Party as they wait for the U.S. government to regulate online gaming.

Hopefully, Party will restore full media access to their tournaments as it doesn’t really seem too excited about developing the website, which tend not to be profitable.

It is a sure thing that Mike Sexton’s job is safe.
