Valentines Day

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

John Phan is obviously better at drinking and playing than Jared Hamby as John enters Day2 as one of the chip leaders whereas Jared has the choice of playing the $500 or washing his green cap. Overnight counts for the $1500:
Matt Heiligerthaler 123k, Luke Priour 113k, F Adli 112k, Jeff Madsen 110k, John Phan 101k, [...]

Friday the 13th

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

The rain is back, so is the green viper.

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

A big holiday weekend with Valentines Day and Presidents Day. A three storm warning for L.A. though which could be good news for Matt Savage and his LAPC. I am hoping Sara Chau wins tomorrows $550 event and lifts the trophy that weighs as much as she does!
No internet at the Commerce today so this [...]

Nelly is in the house!

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Rapper, businessman Nelly parked his tourbus in the Commerce today and played in the high limit cash area. Eric Mizrachi, a black person inside a white skin, excitedly joined the game which was quite a marathon according to Eric.
Upstairs 332 ponied up $1k including a lot of new faces. One European joining the lone Brit, [...]

Full Tilt still signing pros

Friday, February 13th, 2009

As the buy ins rise at the LAPC I noticed Cyndy Violette and Fabrice Soulier both donning Full Tilt patches. Fabrice was eliminated early from the $1k today. However, I chatted with Cyndy and she confirmed it is a long term deal.
Cyndy played for Doyles Room and is a top stud player. Fabrice, from France, [...]

A successful HORSE but not at Santa Anita

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

It seems Santa Anita is experimenting. Instead of the micro brew festivals with bands performing after racing most weekends they had banked (pun intended) on a Snow Day with ski slope, skating rink and 200 tons of real snow. However, another big storm is forecast for the holiday weekend so the event has been postponed. [...]

Matt Savage in purple suit shock

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Matt Savage usually the best turned out TD in the business shocked everyone at the Commerce today by wearing a purple suit. When he finally noticed he called his dry cleaner to see if Kathy Liebert had put her clothes in at the same time. We shall keep you informed of any other lapses in [...]

Snow on the moutains.Slow at the tables.

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

The much discussed rain finally left for Vegas. Not before covering the hills in white stuff. So much Amy Winehouse is trying to get a visa as I write.
The 18 players left from yesterdays $2k, probably stunned from playing so late last night, have barely the energy to lift their chips. The usual exodus to [...]

Introducing….

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Brandon Moorman and Kenny. Brandon, lemon shirt, is a security guard but is also a fan of the poker blogs. Brandon has worked at the Commerce for many years and loves the LAPC.
Kevin is a floorperson at the tournament. He enjoys his work and is allowed, sometimes, to take the winners photo.

Rainy days on Monday…

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

It is just seven days away from the most needed gift from Santa Anita to its patrons…an umbrella. Inside the $2k NLHE attracted some names to the upstairs tournament room. Only 188 bought in. Lakers fan Maria Ho was originally seated at a table with Jerry Buss, Brandon Cantu and Scott Clements. Other notables: Chris [...]
